"Diamanda Galas' interpretation of The Black Cat is astounding. Her characterization of this part continually brings new imagery to this tale we all know so well. Her vocal delivery ranges from sinister to rational, from vampiric to witch-like and from calm to neurotic. All together she weaves the spell of pure insanity Poe intended. Considering the track is nearly forty minutes of poetry it would be a Herculean task for any actor. Of Galas' many fierce, rare talents, acting would not be the first to spring to mind.
