Illo Friday: Blue
Nepenthe
tonight i'll launch
my dreams to sail
thru still water
the ripples shall carry
slow into the night
slow bending denouement
changing winds to laughter
weak raging light.
tonight the moon
will cast away
into deep darkness
sail beyond the sunset
buried in the blue
as it ramifies me
and all images present
shall be unseen.
shall fade away..

ne-pen|the (ni-pen'thee) Greek, from ne- not, and penthos grief
- Something, such as a drink or a drug, capable of making one forget suffering. First mentioned in Homer's Odyssey as a potion capable of erasing all bad memories. By extension, the use of nepenthe today largely reflects the reputed powers of alcohol or drugs to get rid of the memory of one's woes, or have the aftereffect as that of Edgar Allan Poe into writing his poetry >>
note about the illo: converting to jpeg didnt give the image i originally have on MS Paint. i had some turns in editing to gain the same granulated effect thru picassa, but unsuccessful. and uploading the orig piece is worth 1.37 MB of space. but anyhow, hope you all like it!
btw, thanks to .. blue is my favorite color too..
update: the bitmap image is available for viewing. please click here
latest update: changed the illo to a gif thru Irfan View. its seems better now.. pfew!

This is beautiful. I love it!
8) thanks michele, it wasnt as pleasant as the bitmap image, but glad you appreciated it.
Oooh....great mood here!
Velevet, this is very moody and very intoxicating! I love the literary connection as well..very nice:>
nice illo
Gives one a very melancholic mood again, the silent reflection by the lake coupled with the black and blue hues of the scenery. I could almost imagine myself sitting yonder, a fishing rod in hand and contemplating the wonders of the world...
thank you everyone for your nice comments.. fixing something in the template so pardon the messy view. ill get it right in a while. and sorry for the late addition of the poem too..
8)
Your image looks more than fine ... I love the pool; there is something hugging, enclosing the sky about it. Like Aristocrat, I could stay here!
Beautiful !
anonymous.. i actually have the bitmap image of this as my desktop wallpaper. (coz thats the closest i could be to being here too)
i tried to upload the actual one but guess of the 3 ftp i tried, none of them accepted 1.37 MB of bitmap completely. they automatically convert it to jpeg and the dots were diffused. anyway.. glad you like this.. 8)
rowantree.. thanks 8D

freedompad.. ooh wow finally you made it here.. lol. soo you liked my template for yah too?
what do you mean i-link? what is his site btw? and hindi naman ako ganun kagaling noh.. };-}
kookiejar, valgalart.. thanks 8)
yer poem doesnt come outright to say, if it's based nepenthe, as described by the text at the end. but sayin it hints doesnt seem to do justice either.....i've included some greek mythology in my tarots post of the moon, the greek gods and goddesses are interesting. oh well, dun think there would be a joint poem anytime too soon. maybe end of the month or next, coz everyone seems so busy with their stuff nowadays 8)
hee.. thanks for sharing your honest opinion. 8)
well im no expert with words.. nor with art.. but im fond of playing along with both as that of collaging the images they potray with what it really meant to me.
what can i say? sometimes its just an outcome of automatic writing..
and as i wrote in a reply before..
Art is made to disturb. Science reassures. There is only one valuable thing in art: the thing you cannot explain. - Georges Braque
8)
Beautiful and evocative. The poem and your explanation of nepenthe reminded me of times in my past.
thanks Aravis! well im guessing they were very interesting memories too! hee..
indeed, wad i write sometimes i cant explain. they make sense and make no sense, and most of the time nonsense...haha
haha! see.. well that is the beauty of art..and words.. i think. lol.. };-}
the reflection is intense. beautiful work.
thanks, catnapping.. im fond of this style too.. maybe make one for the next illo with the same strokes. let's see.. 8)
oh, i'm delighted i found your work through whoz-on-top (and discover you are also on the women's blogroll where i am new).
i love this one...most intriguing that you "launch my dreams to sail thru still water..."
that you chose "still water" completely fascinates me and pulls me into the feeling of the story and causes me to ponder. perhaps we wait for moving waters to carry our dreams, but no need, for we are to "launch...dreams to sail thru still water..."
8) thanks for your sharing your wonderful insight. it's great to come across your blog as well.. nice that these groups have been created to bring poets/writers and artists together.
i've been away
it's good to come home to the blues :)
thank you
hey floots! its been a while.. thanks for dropping by. which reminds me i have to visit my old friends 8)
this is beatifull...maybe you know a greek poet Alcmane's "the night"? (IV century BC)...I know that philippines got plenty of islands...you wish to be in holland and I wish to get back, sometimes...
:)
ps. thanx for your comment on "what a way..."
thanks aynaku.. wel you should get back vsiting some islands here indeed. this painting is actually based on one of my Pangasinan trips.
and about Alcmane, i should search on his work that you mentioned. but what i remember of him is poetry abuout Lesbian love. hmm.. interesting..
woeha! i finally have a clearer view of my illo. erm, anyone notice the change?
