Illo Friday: Stitch
The Womb
I have a 3-inched stitch
from below my navel running down
for six years now.
this dark brown, reddish thick skin line
is a symbol, a reminder,
of the reason why i try so hard -
breaking my bones
stretching my veins
and splitting time in nano-seconds
and i would trade everything
just to see -
that astonished stare
ice melting smile
running to me.
and to feel -
that heartskipping warmth
of those arms wrapped around me.
and to hear -
the words that will shatter all walls
stop all the wars in the world..
"i love you, mommy"
