photo friday: travel

b.l.a.n.k.

i wake up
darkness around me
five seconds before the alarm rings
i pretend to not hear
but it comes echoing in my head
in the dungeon of my desires
i long to sink beneath the sheets
to melt with the fresh breath of another twilight
that is another day for me
and the other side of the world
but i have no choice
choices are left for the resilient
and i am not as free
and nothing is altered by staying
so the mist lifts me
as i drag my nerves to rake the cold floor
every step further from tranquility
along with my soul that sleeps with the sound
burning the thread of where i travel
as it denies another window to open
so can you -
help me banish the void
that recurs on the sundown
of my shortened years?
no, i know. there’s nothing
that i can even do
but concede on
and embrace it.
