Illo Friday: Phoenix
Cynical Silence
i see you wading at the water
in the equal twilight of the razor edge dust
blows through the empty echoes
silkening the mirrored sea
every single night a part of me dies
changing tossing what’s on my behalf
no laughter can overflow
no dance can ever color
as i see myself fading
leaving myself in the tossing of the moon
from back and beyond
falling down deep i don’t wanna see myself
trapped in the illusion of cynicism
of a cynical world you have created
of a world i stepped into
of the uncertainties i was willing to pursue
holding…
waiting…
wanting…
yearning…
but around me i film in steps
through the phoenix eyes i've seen
a belief that would never behold
and i am not naïve to not see
a block of thorned oaths
without sympathy you ripped, slashed and shred
blade-sharp folds and innate cuts
from innocent souls you stole -
them holding…
them waiting…
them wanting...
them yearning…
now i’ll leave you with that world
let me cross back to my time
let me go back to the crossroads of the wrong turn
before i get lost in your terrain
before i fall further
before it gets too late.
-----
note: i know i didnt exactly drew a phoenix, but read between the lines and you'll see..

Happy New Year! Glad to see you are back!
yeah, although the first post of the year is not too cheery..
Happy New Year too..
Wow this is a wonderful piece of work Velvet, a stunner.
The poem is heart wrenching, but reveals a necessity in all to-survive, and if lucky or strong enough, become reborn, maybe in a better world.
Happy New Year
I think this is a beautiful painting and an excellent choice for Phoenix.
Agree with Studio Lolo! Have a great 2007 AtomicVelvetSigh!!!
very nice... oil pastel?
This is a beautiful interpretation of the challenge, creative and truly lovely.
hardwax.. what a wonderful interpretation.. indeed, we all crave for a better world, but in so doing, i confess that there came a crossroad where one have thought a certain way was right when it was the other way all along. it is just a matter of stepping back a little to regain that lost road. am i making any sense? hmm..

Happy New Year. Nice post.
silence drives one to deep meditation. it's funny how it can give you so much peace and yet be evil at the same time.
happy new year! i love your thoughts.
It conjured many inmages in me, the repel-attraction of someone outside your body, outside your milieu. Jeweled.
